Editorial

William Troost-Ekongs scoring contributions for Al Kholood may be a welcome addition, but they are no substitute for defensive solidity. While the Nigerian captain showed his value in set piece situations, Al Kholoods defensive lapses allowed Al Ittihad to overturn a two goal deficit. Troost-Ekongs leadership at the back will be essential if the team hopes to avoid further setbacks and improve their league standing.

With high profile opponents like Steven Bergwijn and NGolo Kanté running the show, Al Kholoods defense was tested to its limits. Troost-Ekong must work closely with his defensive partners to address gaps in marking and transitional play. While individual brilliance can win moments, its team cohesion that will win matches.

If Al Kholood are to push for a mid-table finish, they will need to balance attacking efforts with defensive discipline. Troost-Ekongs influence on both fronts will be key to achieving this balance.
