Predatory Schools There are hundreds of for-profit schools in NYC. Courses consist of whatever from cooling repair and cosmetology to technician training. Some schools misinform trainees. They may:
- Get you to take out a lot of financial aid. - "Guarantee" you a job after you finish.
- Lie about the value of your degree, including if your credits will move to another school.
Remember
- Financial assistance is usually a loan that you need to repay. It is not a scholarship. - Research a lot of schools.
- Don't register the day you go to a school.
- Get the school's tuition cancellation policy in writing.
